A Sydney-Based, Bridal Makeup Artist

Hi, my name is Alissa and I became a professional makeup artist in 2015. After leaving high school in 2009, I was accepted into Sydney University and began a double degree in Human Movement and Education. Years later as I grew up from being an 18 year old teenager to a young adult, I discovered for myself that my passion for creativity and my heart for people weighed heavily onto my future goals and I knew I was made for a bigger purpose.

Makeup was not an original passion of mine however being a good friend, a good listener and a good person to people was. I discovered makeup when I was watching YouTube one day and started off with a makeup collection as little as eyeliner and a lipstick. Soon after, my makeup collection grew and I began to develop my skill in my own makeup. I guess you can say I was self-taught however my makeup skills became quickly known to so many people.

As time went on, in 2017 I graduated in a Master of Makeup Artistry and I was requested for many formals, birthday’s and special occasions. I eventually landed myself into the biggest beauty industry which is the bridal makeup artistry world. In 2019, as my business grew I found my love for bridal makeup and I decided that this was my purpose. Being there for my brides was my purpose and I knew that this was where I was called to be.

Now we are in 2023 and I am a happily married wife to my husband Roy, so I know first hand what my brides go through. After 6 years as a makeup artist and 3 years as a bridal makeup artist, with over 150+ brides I can confidently say that my service is one of a kind. I care so much about you as a bride, I care about you as a person and I treat everyone with the care and respect that we all deserve.

‘Alissasbakery’ explained

The name Alissasbakery was created by my sister Andrea back in 2015 when makeup and makeup artists started to boom because of YouTube and social media. I know it’s not your typical ’Makeupbyalissa’ or ‘Sydneymakeupartist’ handle and there are times I get mistaken as a Sydney pastry chef haha but I can’t seem to part with the name because my sister created it for me.

My sister and I are 11 months a part in age and she was the first person to believe in me throughout my life. She created this inside joke that I wore too much makeup and instead of baking cakes I bake faces, hence the birth of ‘Alissasbakery’.
